Surfbreak Cabarete is hidden away in a quiet nook of Encuentro. Between the various hammocks and beds throughout our gardens; our only fear is that you may be too relaxed by the end of your stay.

Our breakfast is served between 8am and 11am. We offer fresh fruits, avocado, tomato, eggs boiled and scrambled, freshly baked bread buns, butter, jam, cork-flakes, milk, cacao for chocolate milk, coffee and tea (both available all day).

We make travelling on a budget easy with our shared kitchen. You will find every appliance and more to cook, bake or just whip up a smoothie. We also provide all the basic condiments and spices.

Everything started with Veronika Pfistershammer - she was an artist, a flower lover and a Montessori teacher. Surfbreak was her home and school from 1990 until her all too soon passing in 2014. It was then when her son Julius took over and turned this magical place into a hostel with great vibes. Julius - like his mom - also loved plants and fostered the beautiful gardens we now have at Surfbreak Cabarete. Julius passed away in 2018. Julius's son, Romario - who had since moved to Canada to pursue his passions wanted to find the right owners for Surbreak to continue his Grandmother and his fathers dream. It was during July, 2022 when we shook hands with Romario and promised we would continue with his family legacy with love and passion.
